A domestic flight with 170 passengers onboard was delayed for two-and-a-half hours at Hangzhou Airport after a passenger reported her pet mouse has gone missing. The aircraft later departed without incident following an extensive search by the crew and airport staff. The mouse, which somehow evaded detection by security checks, was never found. The captain of a China Southern Airlines flight had to use the on-board satellite phone for a rather unusual call after one of his passengers left his gas cooker running at home. Mr. Wang was preparing soup before leaving for the airport and only realized he’d left the gas on 30 minutes into the flight. The captain made an urgent mid-air call to Mr. Wang’s wife and she rushed home to find the kitchen covered in black smoke and a burnt out pan - but luckily no fire. The airline waived the US$8-per-minute call charges.
